In a highly anticipated matchup, Westwood faced Onalaska in a battle of two of the highest-scoring teams in Texas. Both teams traded big scoring runs throughout the game. Westwood’s offensive firepower ultimately proved too much, as the Panthers secured the victory and advanced. The Wildcats of Onalaska started off with a 6-0 run, but if you know anything about either of these teams that basically does not matter. These teams could be up or down by twenty with four minutes left to play and the game could change in an instant. Very quickly the score was tied 11-11 with lost of threes back and forth. At the end of the first quarter the score was 23-17 after a fast break layup from Westwood. Onalaska got the ball out of the net and pushed, but for the first time all year they didn't go fast enough and could not get the shot off in time. Late in the second quarter Westwood's senior, #3 Chris Carter, drilled a corner three in front of the Wildcat's bench to push the lead to 22. Just as fast as that lead grew, it shrank back down to 13 in a few possessions, Onalaska fighting back after forcing a few turnovers. With 6:28 left in the game it leveled back out to a 73-60 ball game, with Westwood out ahead. The Wildcats proved to be a tough opponent, but didn't have enough in the tank to take down Westwood.
3/10/2026 - vs. Aransas Pass (Playoff)
Will Aransas Pass be able to handle the pace and athleticism that the Westwood Panthers play with? That is really the only question. The problem that Aransas Pass faces is that there are not many teams that have been able to handle this. At the end of the first quarter Westwood leads big, 24-11. Kavian Bryant pushed the lead to 13 with a transition layup. #3 Chris Carter drills a DEEP three at the end of the half to widen the gap even farther. At the half the Westwood Panthers lead 46-20. It will take everything out of Aransas Pass just to keep this a game.
