MARLIN HIGH SCHOOL – A Waco program that lately has been very good.  We look forward to covering them throughout the 2024-2025 season to see if they can do what no one else has ever done at Marlin.

12/10 @ Hearne

Loss 69-46

The Marlin Bulldogs faced a tough challenge against Hearne, struggling to keep up throughout the game. Despite a solid first quarter, they couldn't maintain momentum and were outscored in every subsequent period. The final score of 69-46 showed the depth and strength of Hearne's team, as Marlin was unable to recover after a strong start by the Eagles.

12/12 vs Mumford

Win 55-47

Marlin bounced back with a hard-fought victory over Mumford. Both teams played tough, but Marlin's defense stepped up in key moments, allowing them to pull away late in the game. With balanced scoring across the board, Marlin secured a 55-47 win to get back on track.

12/12 vs Taylor

Win 66-63

This game was a nail-biter, but Marlin managed to edge out Taylor in a thrilling 66-63 victory. The Bulldogs showed resilience in a back-and-forth battle, overcoming a strong performance from Taylor. Key free throws in the closing moments helped Marlin seal the win.

12/13 vs McGregor

Win 61-45

Marlin came out strong against McGregor, controlling the pace of the game from start to finish. With stifling defense and efficient scoring, the Bulldogs managed to pull away in the second half. Their 61-45 victory was a testament to their well-rounded play.

12/14 vs Milano

Win 66-23

Marlin dominated Milano in every aspect of the game. The Bulldogs’ defense overwhelmed Milano, forcing turnovers and limiting their scoring opportunities. The 66-23 victory was a statement win, with Marlin showing their potential as a top contender.

12/14 vs Taylor

Win 61-45

In their second matchup of the day, Marlin faced off against Taylor again and picked up another convincing win, 61-45. After a competitive first half, Marlin’s defense and offensive execution in the second half were too much for Taylor to handle. The Bulldogs solidified their winning streak with a solid performance.

12/21 @ La Vega

Loss 60-43

Marlin struggled against La Vega, falling 60-43. The Bulldogs couldn’t keep up with La Vega’s offensive firepower, especially in the second half. Despite the loss, Marlin showed resilience but ultimately came up short in this tough matchup.

12/27 vs Grandview

Win 59-40

Marlin played a dominant game against Grandview, winning 59-40. The Bulldogs' defense kept Grandview off balance, and their offense clicked, resulting in a comfortable victory. This win helped Marlin regain momentum heading into the new year.

12/27 vs Lake Belton

Loss 52-48

Marlin’s winning streak came to an end in a close 52-48 loss to Lake Belton. Despite a strong effort, Marlin couldn’t hold onto a late lead. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back after this narrow defeat.

12/28 @ China Spring

Loss 50-42

In a tough road game against China Spring, Marlin fell 50-42. Despite strong individual performances, Marlin struggled to find their rhythm and couldn’t come back in the second half. This loss was a difficult one, but the Bulldogs learned valuable lessons for future games.

12/28 vs Manor New Tech

Win 50-40

Marlin bounced back with a 50-40 victory over Manor New Tech. The Bulldogs’ defense was the key to their success, keeping Manor New Tech from getting into a rhythm. Marlin's offense came through when it mattered most, helping them secure the win.

12/31 vs Riesel

Win 91-39

Marlin closed out the year with a dominant 91-39 win over Riesel. The Bulldogs’ offense was in full gear, putting up impressive points in a blowout victory. They showcased their depth and skill in this impressive win.

1/3 @ Axtell

Win 78-31

Marlin cruised to a 78-31 victory over Axtell, showing their strength on both ends of the floor. The Bulldogs controlled the tempo from the tip, stifling Axtell’s offense while scoring with ease. This dominant win was a great way to start the new year.

1/7 vs Chilton

Win 87-10

Marlin blew out Chilton 87-10 in a game where the Bulldogs couldn’t be stopped. From the opening tip, Marlin’s defense was stifling, and their offense was in overdrive. This was an absolute statement win, showcasing Marlin’s talent and depth.

1/10 @ Mart

Win 59-29

In a dominant road victory, Marlin defeated Mart 59-29. The Bulldogs’ defense was too much for Mart, forcing them into mistakes and easy fast-break opportunities. Marlin controlled the game from start to finish in this impressive win.

1/14 @ Moody

Win 61-42

Marlin secured a 61-42 victory over Moody in a well-played game. Despite some early struggles, the Bulldogs picked up their play and dominated in the second half. Their balanced offense and tough defense led them to this comfortable win.

1/17 vs Bruceville-Eddy

Win 90-25

Marlin showed no mercy in a 90-25 blowout win over Bruceville-Eddy. Their defense was suffocating, and their offense executed at a high level, scoring in a variety of ways. It was a complete team effort in a dominant performance.

1/24 @ Riesel

Win 71-31

Marlin took care of business on the road against Riesel, winning 71-31. The Bulldogs’ defense was once again the key to their success, while their offense found success through fast breaks and high-percentage shots. It was a great team victory.

1/28 vs Axtell

Win 56-51

Marlin picked up a hard-fought 56-51 win against Axtell. This game was close throughout, but Marlin held off Axtell’s late push to secure the win. The Bulldogs showed great composure and clutch play to close out this tight game.

2/4 vs Mart

Win 64-45

Marlin defeated Mart 64-45 in another strong performance. The Bulldogs were in control for the majority of the game, using their defense and scoring prowess to secure the win. Mart couldn't keep up as Marlin pushed the pace and closed out the victory.

2/7 vs Moody

Win 58-48

Marlin defeated Moody 58-48 in a solid victory. Despite a strong challenge from Moody, Marlin’s defense and offensive execution in the second half proved to be too much. The Bulldogs hung tough and earned the win.

2/11 @ Bruceville-Eddy

Win 88-38

Marlin crushed Bruceville-Eddy 88-38 in a game that showcased their full potential. The Bulldogs played excellent defense and moved the ball well on offense, putting up big numbers across the board. This dominant victory displayed their ability to control the game.

2/18 vs Kerens

Win 61-37

Marlin picked up a 61-37 win over Kerens, with their defense stifling Kerens' offense. The Bulldogs controlled the game throughout, with key players stepping up to lead the way. It was a methodical win as Marlin showed their depth and balance.

2/21 @ Frankston

Win 46-45 (OT)

Marlin won a thrilling 46-45 overtime victory against Frankston. The game was tight throughout, but Marlin made the key plays when it mattered most. Their resilience in overtime helped them secure a hard-earned victory.

2/25 vs Hawkins

Win 61-52

Marlin defeated Hawkins 61-52 in a strong all-around performance. The Bulldogs executed their game plan well, getting key contributions from various players. Their defense and rebounding helped them secure this crucial win.

2/28 @ Shelbyville

Win 60-54 (OT)

In a dramatic 60-54 overtime win, Marlin outlasted Shelbyville. The game was tightly contested throughout, but Marlin showed poise and toughness in the extra period. Their determination led them to another big win in a competitive matchup.  Very questionable call towards the end of the game with an offensive foul called on one of Shelbyville guard.

Loss 58-48

Marlin suffered a tough 58-48 loss to Hearne. The Bulldogs kept it close but couldn’t find a way to stop Hearne’s fast-paced offense. Despite their best efforts, Marlin came up short in this rivalry matchup.
