KOUNTZE HIGH SCHOOL – The Lions have showcased exceptional performance throughout the 2024-2025 season, demonstrating both offensive prowess and defensive tenacity. As they aim for a deep playoff run, every #STBA eye is on Kountze as they pursue the UIL State Championship. This page chronicles the Lions' journey through their 2024-2025 season.

12/7/2024 - In a highly anticipated game the Kountze Lions took on the Lipan Indians. Sadly the game disappointed many with the final score being 74-37. The Kountze Lions look pretty dang good right now.

12/25/2024 - 3A STBA Christmas Rankings - #1 Kountze
Kountze takes the top spot, and there’s little room for debate. Led by the exceptional talent of Zac Sells, this team has set the standard for 3A basketball. It’s hard to imagine anyone knocking them off this pedestal anytime soon.
12/27/2024 - The holiday tournament that every small town basketball program dreams of being invited to - the Tenaha tournament. Kountze gets the bid to play Tenaha and they win that game 84-35. That game puts us in a position to get a rematch of their earlier game against Lipan. Zac Sells comes up big with several key steals to seal the game late. Much more competitive matchup here in Tenaha.
12/28/2025 - The Tenaha tournament championship was played Tatum vs. Kountze. In a super exciting game the Lions fend off the Eagles comeback attempt. The first quarter ends about even with Kountze leading 21-19 after 8 minutes of play. The second quarter is much the same with teams going into halftime locked in a battle 38-35. The Lions come out of halftime firing on all cylinders scoring 18 and holding Tatum to 13 points stretching their lead to 14 points. Tatum, showing some serious resilience, and scoring 20 points to close out the game - but (SR) Zac Sells comes up big with his record setting steal to seal the game. His steal in the final seconds of the game did more than just win the game, it also set a national record. With that steal Zac is now the NATIONAL record holder for most steals in a high school career.
1/3/2025 - In an absolute blowout the Lions take down Anahuac 90-31. Zac Sells (SR) Scores his 3,000th career point for the Kountze Lions.

2/28/2025 – The Lions secured their spot in the state semifinals by defeating Keene 66-42 at College Station High School, one step closer to their championship aspirations. This was a earlier matchup this year, the first score was 80-40.
3/4/2025 – Kountze is set to face San Antonio Cole in the state semifinals at Katy Taylor High School, with the game scheduled for 7:00 PM. Cole held off Poth in the Regional Finals in a game that #STBA was LIVE for. Kountze will have to do a great job containing some of Cole's shooters. I do think that Kountze athleticism will give Cole trouble.
