GRUVER HIGH SCHOOL – After five rounds of football this year, the Greyhounds have finally gotten the basketballs out. Gruver has a strong history of athletic success, especially on the hardwood. Last year they only lost two games all season, with one of those coming in the fourth round of the playoffs against New Home. The Greyhounds have their eyes set on another deep run this year, and #STBA definitely has its eyes on them.
12/19/2025 - @ Lockney
The Greyhounds didn’t take long to shake off the football rust in this one. Once they saw the ball go through the net a few times, it was over for Lockney. Gruver’s offense got rolling early and never slowed down, cruising to a 75-35 win with plenty of buckets along the way.
12/29/2025 - vs Pampa (Tournament)
Gruver opened tournament play with a dominant 64-36 victory over Pampa. Their defense set the tone early, forcing turnovers and turning them into easy transition baskets. It was a strong start to the tournament and another sign that the Greyhounds were quickly finding their rhythm
12/29/2025 - vs Wheeler (Tournament)
Later that same day, Gruver continued their impressive play with a commanding 65-28 win over Wheeler. Their defense created problems all night, while their offense spread the scoring around. The Greyhounds looked comfortable playing multiple games in a day and controlled this matchup from start to finish.
12/30/2025 - vs Perryton (Tournament)
Gruver wrapped up tournament play with a solid 54-32 win over Perryton. Their defense once again led the way, limiting quality looks and controlling the tempo of the game. By the end of the tournament, it was clear that the Greyhounds were fully back in basketball mode.
1/2/2026 - @ Sunray (District)
After only a handful of games, district play began, and district began with an absolute offensive explosion as Gruver rolled past Sunray 96-45. The Greyhounds pushed the pace and knocked down shots from all over the floor. When Gruver gets into this kind of rhythm offensively, they can put games away very quickly.
1/6/2026 - vs Spearman (District)
Gruver’s defense was the story in this one, holding Spearman to just 27 points in a 58-27 win. The Greyhounds controlled the game with disciplined defense and efficient offense. It was another comfortable district victory.
1/9/2026 - @ Stratford (District)
On the road at Stratford, Gruver delivered another dominant performance with a 72-28 win. Their ability to score in transition and apply constant defensive pressure overwhelmed Stratford. The Greyhounds were clearly settling into district play.
1/13/2026 - vs Vega (District)
Gruver continued their district dominance with a 77-29 victory over Vega. The Greyhounds’ offense was clicking, and their defense made it extremely difficult for Vega to generate quality scoring opportunities.
1/20/2026 - vs West Texas (District)
In a lower-scoring game compared to some of their earlier contests, Gruver still controlled things comfortably in a 48-22 win over West Texas. Their defensive effort was outstanding, shutting down any rhythm West Texas tried to establish.
1/22/2026 - @ Sanford-Fritch (District)
The Greyhounds put together another complete performance on the road, defeating Sanford-Fritch 73-23. Gruver’s ability to control the pace and dominate defensively continues to be a major factor in these lopsided district wins.
1/27/2026 - vs Sunray (District)
Gruver delivered one of their most dominant defensive performances of the season, holding Sunray to just 13 points in a 69-13 victory. Their defense and relentless energy overwhelmed Sunray from the opening tip.
1/30/2026 - @ Spearman (District)
Spearman put up more resistance in the rematch, but Gruver still controlled the game and earned a 64-32 win. The Greyhounds’ depth and defensive consistency once again proved to be too much for their opponent.
2/3/2026 - vs Stratford (District)
Stratford managed to slow the game down a bit in the second meeting, but Gruver still secured a comfortable 59-39 win. Even when teams manage to limit the pace, the Greyhounds’ efficiency on both ends of the floor remains difficult to overcome.
2/6/2026 - @ Vega (District)
Gruver returned to their dominant ways with a 69-16 win over Vega. Their defensive intensity never dropped, and they continued to show why they are one of the most dangerous teams in their classification.
2/7/2026 - vs Jayton
What an absolute incredible matchup for these two state contenders. Jayton, a 1A State Champion, with hopes of repeating this season. Gruver came away with a solid 59-38 victory, pushing their win streak even higher. Respect for both coaches scheduling this highly sought after match.
2/13/2026 - @ West Texas (District)
West Texas managed to put up more points in the rematch, but Gruver still handled business with a 67-45 win. The Greyhounds controlled the game offensively while continuing to apply defensive pressure.
2/18/2026 - vs Sanford-Fritch (District)
Gruver closed out district play in dominant fashion with a 70-16 victory over Sanford-Fritch. The Greyhounds showed no signs of slowing down as they prepared to head into the postseason.
2/20/2026 - vs Hale Center
Gruver kept their momentum rolling with an 80-37 win over Hale Center. Their offense was firing on all cylinders, and the defense remained as stingy as ever.
2/23/2026 - vs Memphis (Playoff Game - Round 1)
The Greyhounds opened their playoff run at Canyon High School with a convincing 90-46 win over Memphis. Their offensive firepower was on full display, and they wasted no time showing they were ready for postseason basketball. The Greyhounds came out in a three quarter court 1-2-2 press that really put the hurt on Memphis. Senior, #11 Brock Butler was at the head of the press. Overall, Gruver's size and athletic advantage put them over the top here in this one, but their team play was impressive as well.
2/26/2026 - vs Farwell (Playoff Game - Round 2)
Farwell provided a tougher test, but Gruver responded with a strong performance to secure a 68-54 victory. Their experience and composure helped them control the game in key moments and advance to the next round.
3/2/2026 - vs Plains (Playoff Game - Round 3)
Gruver came out in their black uniforms and continued their postseason push with a dominant 72-43 win over Plains. Their defense set the tone early showing some full court man run and jump, and after some free throws they got into their three quarter court 1-2-2 zone trap that forced a few turnovers. One of them followed #2 Mason Lankford's two free throws in the first quarter - Sequences like those allowed them to build a comfortable lead and keep their playoff momentum going.
3/6/2026 - vs New Home (Playoff Game - Round 4)
