CITY VIEW HIGH SCHOOL – The Mustangs had a late start to their basketball season due to their great success on the football field as they made it to the second round of the playoffs.  City View has high expectations in their upcoming season as they were eliminated in the regional tournament last season.  A lot of #STBA eyes will be on this program for the 2024-2025 season.

12/3/2024 – The season opener against Seymour ended in heartbreaking fashion, with the team falling 73-72 in a nail-biting contest. Despite a strong offensive showing, a last-minute scoring drought allowed Seymour to escape with the win.

12/5/2024 – Against Grapevine Faith Christian, the team fought hard but came up just short in a 62-59 loss. The defensive effort was solid, but a few late-game mistakes proved costly.

12/6/2024 – Facing a tough Aubrey squad on the road, the team struggled to contain their opponent’s offensive firepower, ultimately falling 74-60. A slow start put them behind early, and despite a late push, they couldn’t close the gap.

12/6/2024 – Later that day, the team bounced back with a 67-52 win over Lebanon Trail. A balanced scoring attack and disciplined defense helped secure the double-digit victory.

12/7/2024 – Carrying momentum into the next game, the team overwhelmed Diamond Hill-Jarvis in a dominant 77-47 victory. An explosive offensive effort, combined with aggressive defense, resulted in a lopsided win.

12/12/2024 – A rematch against Aubrey brought a similar result, as their size and shooting once again proved difficult to handle in a 74-61 loss. Despite a much-improved effort, the team couldn’t quite pull off the road upset.

12/13/2024 – The matchup against Paradise was another heartbreaker, with the team losing 67-65 in the final moments. A tough defensive stand late wasn’t enough to overcome a few missed opportunities.

12/14/2024 – The team responded in a big way with a dominant 73-51 win over Ponder. A fast start and relentless defense paved the way for one of their most impressive performances of the season.  This was a great win against a team that was a few minutes away from a state title last year.

12/20/2024 – In a game that showed their growing confidence, the team controlled the tempo and kept Henrietta in check for a 66-47 victory. The offense flowed smoothly, and the defense created key stops throughout.

12/26/2024 – In a thrilling holiday tournament matchup, the team edged out a close 57-54 victory over Canton. Clutch free throws and late-game execution helped secure the win.

12/27/2024 – Fatigue may have played a factor in the game against Commerce, as the team struggled offensively in a 61-45 loss. Cold shooting stretches allowed Commerce to pull away.

12/27/2024 – The team bounced back later that day with a dominant 70-45 victory over Gunter. Crisp ball movement and lockdown defense made the difference.

12/28/2024 – Facing a strong Paris team, the squad couldn’t find an answer for their opponent’s scoring runs and fell 72-49. Turnovers and defensive lapses allowed Paris to build a comfortable lead.

12/31/2024 – The start of district play couldn’t have been more dramatic, as the team grinded out a tough 47-44 road win over Bowie. A defensive battle from start to finish, this win proved they could win ugly if needed.

1/3/2025 – The offense exploded in a 92-62 win over Iowa Park, the highest-scoring game of the season. Everything was clicking, from fast breaks to three-point shooting, leading to a commanding victory.

1/7/2025 – A hard-fought road victory saw the team overcome a slow start with a strong second half in a 52-46 win over Jacksboro. Defensive intensity and clutch shooting down the stretch sealed the win.

1/14/2025 – Against one of the tougher teams in the district, the squad struggled to contain Holliday’s shooters in a 68-54 loss. Despite a competitive effort, they couldn’t close the gap in the final minutes.  Holiday looks to make some serious noise in the playoffs again, remember last year they played in the state tournament.  

1/17/2025 – Defense was the name of the game in a 52-45 win over Vernon. The team locked down Vernon’s key scorers, and a balanced offensive approach helped them grind out an important district victory.

1/21/2025 – A cold shooting night plagued the team in a 46-36 loss at Henrietta. Despite a strong defensive effort, offensive struggles prevented them from pulling out the road win.

1/24/2025 – Bowie flipped the script from the first matchup, controlling the game with their physicality in a 60-46 victory. The team fought hard but couldn’t find enough rhythm offensively.

1/28/2025 – Another close loss came against Iowa Park, as a few key plays in the final minutes made the difference in a 59-52 defeat. The team competed well but couldn’t come up with the stops they needed.

1/31/2025 – Back on their home court, the team delivered a statement win with a dominant 67-43 performance against Jacksboro. A suffocating defensive effort led to easy transition baskets, securing a much-needed victory.

2/7/2025 – In a revenge game, the team found a way to pull off a gritty 52-49 win against Holliday. A big defensive stand in the final minute sealed the deal.

2/11/2025 – An offensive explosion saw the team hit the century mark in a 100-60 blowout of Vernon. Hot shooting and relentless defense made for a statement win heading into the playoffs.

2/19/2025 – The first playoff game was a showcase of offensive firepower, as the team put up their highest point total of the season in a 105-61 rout of Dublin. They controlled the game from start to finish, leaving no doubt.

2/20/2025 – A suffocating defensive effort paved the way for a 72-38 playoff win over Clyde. The team’s energy and execution were at an elite level.

2/25/2025 – The squad faced a tougher challenge but stayed composed to secure a 59-45 win over Childress. A balanced attack and strong rebounding effort helped them advance.

2/28/2025 – In a tense playoff battle, the team held on in the closing moments to secure a 49-45 victory over Slaton. Defensive stops and free throws made the difference.

3/4/2025 – The upcoming playoff matchup against Paradise is personal, as they edged out a win earlier in the season. With everything on the line, the team will need to bring their best effort in order to keep their playoff run alive.  This season has been a testament to the team’s growth, resilience, and ability to bounce back from tough losses. Now, with a shot at revenge against Paradise, they’ll look to continue their journey with another playoff victory.
